After reading this article, I was shocked. The military are developing drugs that can make soldiers want to fight. I thought that this was a free country. Who are they to start making things to change the way we think? The fact that they would even resort to this kind of stuff gives me the chills. These are the things that Huxley and Postman talk about. We rely on technology enough that we start to take things way out of hands.
Fortunately, there is a positive side to all of this. They are also making a prostetic machine that is connected to your brain. This machine will benefit many amputees and paralysis patients. They are also making a new kind of lie detector that is more advanced and will help to see if someone is lying and detect if they are a threat to the community.
What do you think? Should the military be using tax payers money in order to create new technology that seems to benefit the military more than the people? Are they going to far by creating robotic technology that will soon replace soldiers? Will the military use these drugs to control the people to support war? Will these advancements in technology provoke WWIII? Will we become like what Orwell predicted?

I agree that it's absolutely crazy to give people a pill that makes them want to go to war. It's like a way of drafting soldiers without calling it a draft. If someone wants to go to war it should be free willingly, not because some pill made you want to. Now the other question is if you don't want to go to war, why would you take the pill? But I still do believe the idea of a pill making you want to go to war is crazy. We're supposedly a free country then this just seems like an idea to control us. Whether or not we want to go to war, or whether or not we believe in war should be left up to us as people to decide not some pill.
From reading books like BNW and AOTD, I can't say that I'm surprise that such things occur at this time and age. It's wrong and unjust but if it helps stop war, why not give it a try? In BNW, there are no such thing as war and disease because people are kept on a leash and are kept from the freedom to 'think' and 'feel'. Yes, it's not right but will there be another alternative other than what Huxley has to offer?
If we think about it, controlling and teaching them to act in a certain way is the safest and less bloodiest way to handle our problems. Without this, there will always be people to fight against peace because they have the 'freedom' to feel and think about things like war. Wouldn't it be better to be oblivious and kept happy with soma rather than be constantly be worrying about war and poverty? If no other alternative is to be offered other than Huxley's, then I think that we're better off in his world, seeing as nobody in the world has come with a better idea to handle our problems.
The military already uses our tax dollars for things we know nothing of but creating a drug that will alter the way people think is out of line. With technology today, you never know, it maybe possible that we can create our own robotic soldiers to fight for us. However, I do not think that our world will become what Orwell predicted but more like Huxley. Today, war is not of our concern, we do not regaurd it with importance or pay much attention to it; we are controlled by enterainment.
