Formicoidea Fatum

Ants are probably the best metaphor for the citizens of the Brave New World’s World State. Ants are also created to fill jobs, and just as in the Hatcheries their bodies grow to fit the needs of these jobs. In fact, the variability in size is the same with the queen ant being the biggest and the worker being the smallest. Ants are equally dedicated to the jobs given them. A worker ant never dreams of doing anything but work because it can’t. Gammas suffer the same affliction, but while a worker ant physically lacks the ability to form such complex thought, Gammas were robbed of it. By crushing the buds of imagination before they had a chance to bloom, the Hatchery workers managed to reduce human minds to the level of an ant’s. But this is the cost that must be paid to preserve the colony, the World State.
