Normal?
As I finished reading Brave New World I couldn't help but notice a similarity between the controlled dystopian society and the savage reservation. While, for the most part, they were pretty different, there was one thing that stood out, the way that they judged people. In the controlled society everyone made fun of Bernard because he was different, so-called ugly, or unattractive. Benito Hoover and Henry Foster ridiculed him a lot in the beginning of the story because he was different, as did Fanny, Lenina's friend. This was very similar to the way the savages treated Linda and John. They ridiculed and made fun of them because they were different. Linda came from a different world, she had different values, and lived differently then they did, and they ridiculed her for it. They made fun of John because he was her child and different from the rest. It seems like no matter where you go being different is never accepted. People get made fun of today for being different just the same as they do in Brave New World. It seems that no matter when in history it is, there has been one constant, judging or hurting people because they are different. When will this stop? What is so wrong with being different? We're all different in some way. What makes someone normal? Will we ever be able to break free of this problem ?

I noticed this as well, and I definitely connceted Brave New World with today's society. After all, we're definitely not all the same. It's called originality. Jugding someone because they're "different" is actually quite ridiculous, but it's been in society for hundreds of years, and will probably continue hundreds of years from now.
