In chapter five of Postman's book, Amusing Ourselves to Death, he describes how telegraph and photography had set an example on the Age of Business. In the mid-nineteenth century a new method of communication was developed, it was telegraph. Telegraph had became a structure of the public conversation. Do you think that telegraph had influenced the public conversation in a bad or good way? As Postman says, "There is no beginning, middle, or end in a world of photographs, as there is none implied by telegraphy"(74). Both telegraph and photography provided facts, but they did not provide the full knowledge of those facts. Why didn't telegraph and photography provide the full knowledge of those facts? Telegraph had made communication much easier. It also provided news from places that we did not expect it from. Telegraph provided us to print more national news. Also, photography provided evidence of believing. Today, news gives us something to talk about, but no action is taken upon the event. What do you think about this? Should some kind of action be taken upon it? If so why?

I agree that people pay way too much attention to personal lives of presidents and candidates than their politics and ideas for our country. And the fact that media caters to this doesn't help either. Presidential candidates should not pose as someone who would help our counry unless they would actually do so. People should focuss more on their ideas instead of personal lives. There are very important decisions to be made in this next election and hopefully the one chosen can clean up the messes made by our current president.
