it's surprising how much i enjoyed reading Politics and the English Language by Orwell. You will find it more enjoyable if you relate to it. it has dark humor. You'll find yourself laughing out loud if you understand what Orwell is trying to say. The modern writing examples are ridiculous. If you look at it closely, you will see that it makes no sense. One of the examples that caught my attention was on page 5 of the Orwell's essay. "The attaraction of this way of writing is that it is easy. It is easier-- even quicker, once you have the habit-- to say In my opinion it is not an unjustifiable assumption that than to say I think"
It seems that the modern writing tries to sound attractive and educated by using too big words in a sentence. It ends up making no sense to the reader. Orwell is right, we will save so much time and energy if we stop trying to make ourselves sound smart while using words we don't know the meaning of. Don't get me wrong, it is good to use big words. It makes your sentence strong and more fluid but first, we have to know how to use it.
