My daughter Maddy (Mayfair '06) is entering her junior year at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo -- she's a chemistry major, who entered college with 4 classes under her belt because of AP World (Garvin), AP English Language (yes, she was in my class), AP Chem (Falk), and AP Calc (Nguyen).
Maddy (pictured center with her friend Cindy and her cousin Emma) is taking a literature class and a theater class this summer; class started last Monday and will be over July 21st. Here's her summer reading list -- it will give you an idea of the pace of college work...remember, this is 6 weeks (we have 10). There will be a few tests and a big paper due on July 24:
Songs of Innocence and Experience, William Blake (poetry)
selected poems of Coleridge and Wordsworth
Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert
Frankenstein, Mary Shelley
Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conrad
-----
Oedipus the King, Sophocles
Hedda Gabler, Ibsen
Fences, August Wilson
Angels in America, Tony Kushner
